RATA in 2019

He aha te mea nui o te ao?
He tangata! He tangata! He tangata!
What is the most important thing in the world?
It is people! It is people! It is people!
This whakatauki from the Maori people of New Zealand helps to express the way the RATA team feel about our work.
The most important thing to us is the people we are privileged to work alongside in educating the children entrusted to them.

Happy New Year to all our RATA teachers, team members and collaborators. A lot has been going on behind the scenes at RATA in 2018 and we are nearly ready to share some exciting news with you! So watch this space. Hopefully there will be a RATA newsletter in the next couple of weeks in which we will share that news!

As for 2019? This year we will return to India from around 27 June to 16 July. The intention this year is to take a small team of people to support the India Rata team as they take more leadership of the teaching program.

The RATA Director, Anney Collin, is planning a couple of visits in June and July to explore possible projects in Uganda and India. We will keep you posted on these possibilities as the year progresses.

Early in 2019 we will hold a gathering for all interested RATA whanau (family) to have an opportunity to catch up with each other and share memories and laughs about our past experiences, and also to consider the RATA vision as we plan for the future. As we would like the RATA Board members to be a part of this gathering they will be consulted before setting a date. This gathering will be in Hamilton.
